History

The merger of two of Saskatchewan's oldest law firms has created one of the province's largest: Robertson Stromberg Pedersen LLP. The merger brings together not only professionals who share a passion for independent thinking, but also a long history of one-on-one client relationships.

Robertson Stromberg traces its roots back to 1918. The firm's founding members included the Honourable James Wilfred Estey, Attorney General for Saskatchewan and later a justice on the Supreme Court of Canada; Dr. Arthur Moxon, K.C., the first dean of the University of Saskatchewan College of Law; and Peter G. Makaroff, K.C., a distinguished civil libertarian best known for his representation of labour and minorities during the Great Depression.

Pedersen, Norman, McLeod & Todd was founded in 1946 in Regina by the late Chris Pedersen, Q.C. Pedersen developed a strong philosophy of service based on personal relationships with clients and expertise in a range of areas. He was later joined by Norman, Todd and Derril McLeod, Q.C., LL.D., former Chancellor of the U of R.
