Alan has been a Crown Prosecutor for both the Attorney General of Canada and of Saskatchewan.

Education
Alan graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts in 1975 and received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1979. He was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1980.
Professional Involvement
Throughout his legal career, Alan has been actively engaged in professional organizations at the local, provincial and national levels. His involvement past and present includes membership in the Saskatchewan Bar Association (Saskatchewan Court of Appeal Bar Judicial Council and Saskatchewan Provincial Court Bar Judicial Council), Canadian Bar Association (Head of the Civil Litigation Section (South) and Criminal Justice Section for Saskatchewan), Law Reform Commission, Association of the Trial Lawyers of America and Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association. He has served as a Bencher for the Law Society of Saskatchewan, President and Director of the Regina Bar Association, Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, and Chairman of the Canadian Bar Association Saskatchewan Committee Provincial Court Compensation Commission. He has shared his expertise as a presenter at the Canadian Bar Association Mid-Winter Meeting and several Saskatchewan Lawyers Insurance Association seminars and as a Faculty member of the Saskatchewan Legal Education Society Inc. Trial Advocacy Course, and through television presentations for Public Legal Education Association. He has been retained by the Law Society for File Practice Review, Insurance Defence, and is frequently called upon by members of the media for legal comment and analysis.
Community Involvement
Alan’s varied interests are reflected in the organizations he in involved with and supports. He has volunteered as a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society and Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation Inc., is a member of the YMCA and the Public Legal Education Association, and has served as President of the Not-Just-Us Toastmasters Club and Area 33 Governor for Toastmasters and as Vice President of Regina Dragonboat Inc.
