Practice Areas
Darcia is a skilled administrative, family and civil litigation lawyer with extensive experience in the area of professional regulation as she represents a number of professional conduct and discipline committees of self governing professions in Saskatchewan. A second major component of her practice is child protection proceedings under the Child and Family Services Act as Darcia acts for both government and the Tribal Council Family Services Agency. Finally, Darcia maintains a general civil litigation practice.
Education
Darcia received her Bachelor of Arts degree with Great Distinction from the University of Regina in 1980 and her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1983. She was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1984.
Professional Involvement
Darcia has served on the board of directors of the Saskatchewan Legal Education Society, as a non-bencher member on a Discipline Committee of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and has acted as Professional Standards Investigator for the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
Community Involvement
Darcia lends her expertise to the Royal Canadian Mint as a member of their board of directors. She is also a member of the General Insurance Council of Saskatchewan, the Lakeshore Tennis Club in Regina and volunteers with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and the Regina Humane Society.
Key Cases
Knutson v. Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association
Both at Queen’s Bench and in the Court of Appeal this case dealt with a number of issues including the application of section 13 of the Charter of Rights to discipline proceedings and the ability of the Association to discipline a former member.

EKS v. Department of Social Services
In this frequently cited case, the Court clearly set out the principles and thresholds in child protection proceedings in Saskatchewan.

Providence Place for Holistic Health Inc. et al. v. Moose Jaw Thunder Creek Health District Inc. and Government of Saskatchewan
Acting as co-counsel in this case for the Plaintiffs, we successfully obtained an injunction stopping the closure of a geriatric facility and ordering the Health Board to make application to the Government for appropriate funding.

Sacred Heart Academy Corp. v. Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division
Acting as co-counsel in this case for the Plaintiffs, we successfully obtained an injunction stopping the closure of a girls only high school.
